1st Pres Day of Caring The first “1st Pres Day of Caring” was a success! The weather was beautiful on May 21, for which our thirteen volunteers were very thankful. The following people participated: Aylesia Adams (friend of the Jasmins), Bonnie Howlett, Ali Jasmin, Anne Jasmin, Anita Mault, Burton Mault, James Mault, Alana May, Dan May, Julie May, Marisa May, Judy McNamara and Brandon Zeller (friend of the Maults). It should be noted that Anne, Anita and the teens had spent the night at the church so they were working on very little sleep! (Burton mentioned that he and Pastor Aaron were up until 4:00 a.m.) We helped five residents of Park Place Apartments: Audrey A., Marion Buckingham, Barbara Davy, Duane Everetts and Bernie Kestler. The work included rug cleaning, air conditioner installation, refrigerator moving, ceiling fan dusting, and window screen installation. Special thanks go to Bernie Kestler who contacted all the residents and organized the work list. In Thomas Estates West we helped Patricia Woodhall with yard work. She loves gardening and planting, but health problems have limited the amount of work she can do. We removed sod, created a new garden, installed edging, and removed tons of stones and rocks (literally!). The boys also mowed the lawn and trimmed with the weed whacker, which was tons of fun to watch. All who attended worked hard, had great fun and ate lots of pizza! I wish to thank each and every one for their efforts. Hopefully this will be an annual event that continues to grow in scope. Dan May
