The First Presbyterian Spirit Newsletter

We are working on new church directories for 2012. Please contact the office by February 7 if any changes need to be made to your listing.

A check register was found in the sanctuary a couple of months ago and we have still not received any call regarding it. If you lost yours in late October/early November, please call the church office. Thank you.

Food Shelf {food shelf usage increased by 50% in 2011}
Food shelf needs: peanut butter, jelly, mayonnaise, oil, fruit, snacks, desserts, vegetables/potatoes, pasta, spaghetti sauce, beans (protein), prepared meals, tuna/canned meat, rice, soup, milk, juice, cereal, miscellaneous, personal hygiene, laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, cheese, margarine, bread, and meat. Monetary gifts are also welcome.

Calendar of First Church Events

Our Daily Bread Devotional is available in the entrance area and outside the church office.

Sunday School: 10:15 a.m. for children Pre-K through 6th grade.

Adult Bible Study: meets in the Church Parlor every Sunday right after church and is always done by noon. You are always welcome to attend.

February 5 ~ The first Sunday of the month is Communion Sunday and Food Shelf Sunday.
Please bring your donations and place them in the basket outside the Sanctuary.

February 12 ~ Annual Congregational Meeting
On Sunday following worship we will review annual reports for 2011 and vote on additional officers. Charlene Noel will be providing a children's activity in Lowers Hays Hall during the meeting.

February 12 ~ The Brockport United Methodist Men's Group is proud to sponsor:
A Screening of the Award-Winning Documentary from Executive Producer Eva Longoria. Detailing the struggles of migrant farmers and their children at 5 PM. We'd love to invite you to join us! Commencing with a Pot-Luck Dinner in the Brockport United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall & followed by the Screening. A Free-Will Offering will be accepted with ALL proceeds going to LOCAL Migrant Missions

**Please contact Caitlin at the church office by February 5th if you plan on attending, so that we can send a number of attendees to expect over to Brockport United Methodist.

February 13 ~ Women's Circle will meet in the church parlor at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. We'd love to have you join us as we view and discuss the video "Matthew---Jesus the Jewish Messiah". This is the sixth video from a collection relating to the New Testament.

Office Hours:
The church office will be open Tuesday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. On Fridays, the church office will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

College Students

recycle "Imagine it" - Electronics Recycling Box
There is a green and white cardboard collection box in the rear entrance area under the bulletin board. Bring in your unwanted electronics and accessories and First Presbyterian Church will earn back funds from the recycling of these items. Imagine it takes PDAs, Cell Phones, MP3 players, GPS Devices, Laptops, Camcorders, Thumb Drives, Game Device - everything that goes into or taken out of a printer, copier, or fax machine, including all cords, batteries and accessories. They take cases, headphones, charging ports, and anything else that goes with your device. Further information is available on the bulletin board outside the church office. Protect the environment and support your church.

Aurora House
Our church has volunteered to collect donations of supplies for Aurora House during the month of June.
List of items needed:
paper towels
liquid bleach
scented candles
dust mite covers for pillows
gift cards to local stores
decks of playing cards
cash donations
Gift cards or cash donations can be put in the offering plate during Sunday service or given to Marilyn in the main office. There is bin near the back entrance to collect other items. Thank you in advance for your generosity


Providing FLOWERS for a Sunday service is a wonderful way to celebrate or remember special people or events. If you would like to provide the flowers for a Sunday service, please sign up on the Flower Chart outside the church office or call the office during the week. There are lots of Sundays available.
