The work involves sorting and unpacking clothes and welcoming visitors. A sign-up sheet is on the Oak Table downstairs. Please sign up as it makes it easier for us to ensure adequate coverage. Cambodia ForumOn Sunday, August 8, Daniel and Amanda Talstra will be sharing with us during a Forum time in Lower Hays Hall. The missionary work they are doing in Cambodia is interesting, challenging, and exciting. Please plan on being here for a Forum starting right after church and running for about an hour. Amanda is the daughter of Jim and Mary Hastings. Come find out what one of “our own” is doing to serve God. Amanda Hastings and her husband Daniel Talstra are serving with the Mennonite Central Committee in Cambodia for the next three years. Sunday, August 29 CE Fun Day picnic cook-out at noon.
Join us for S'More Fun…..Hymns & Hots Join members of your church family on Sunday, August 29th, at Hamlin Beach State Park for dinner and evening enjoyment. We'll convene at 6:00 p.m. at Area 5-east end (turn right when you enter area 5), for a meal and fellowship, then stay to watch the beautiful sunset over Lake Ontario. Bring: your own meat to grill and a dish to pass. There will be picnic tables, but you may bring your own chair, blanket, games, etc. If you have a portable LP gas grill you can bring to share we'd appreciate it. Admission to the park is free after 6 p.m. Hope to see you at this summer Congregational Life event Teachers NeededThe Christian Education Department and the children of the church are seeking teachers for the upcoming school year. You are needed. The curriculum is fun and easy and the children are eager and bright. All that is missing is you. If you have questions please do not hesitate to ask Rick Miner, Director of Christian Education, or a member of the Christian Education Committee (Sandie Booth, Tricia Crissman, Diane Harper, Anne Jasmin, Anita Mault, Holly Stewart, Lisa Philbin). A gift has been received from our supplier, Tony Wynn, of Service Office Supply, of note pads with church information printed on them. Please feel free to take one and if you would like more just contact the church office where additional supplies are available. Have you enjoyed the colorful bulletin covers we have been using for over a year now? If you have, and would like to see them continue, you can contribute to the fund that is covering the cost of these bulletins. Weekly cost is $9.50, monthly cost is $37.16 and quarterly cost is $111.48. Your donation can be made in honor or memory of someone special, a special event or just because. Call the church office if you would like to support the continued use of these special bulletin covers. Fliers have been placed by the front door and in the Library about the Sweden Senior Center. There are seven Presbyterians eating there on Wednesdays. We encourage you to join us. Our goal is to double the number of Presbyterians in service to each other and the community. A variety of scheduled events to benefit the Aurora House are listed on fliers found on the board in the Assembly Room. Please check them out and plan to attend any of interest to you in support of the Aurora House efforts. Flower Sign Up Sheet Would you like to provide fresh flowers for a Sunday worship service? There is a sign-up sheet on the board outside the church office for you to select which week you would like to choose. This is always a nice way to remember or honor someone special in your life. Prayer ListIf a name of someone close to you has been removed from the Friends list and you wish it to be restored, please notify the church office. Future names of friends will be kept on the list for four weeks unless the office has been notified of continued need of prayers. Recycle your used candles and crayons A bucket has been placed outside the kitchen for used crayons and used candles. There is also a sample of a recycled candle. The crayons are used as dye. Questions??? Call Peggy Hale, 637-4857. Returnable Cans and BottlesThe teens have been collecting returnable bottles and cans to help obtain their CIP pledge of one family share. Please continue to donate your bottles and cans on an ongoing basis. We will be doing the collection all year long and will take it in as we see a need to empty the box in the lower entrance of the church. Teens collect the bottle and cans for the CIP. The pop-top rings on the cans get pulled off and collected for The Ronald McDonald House. The plastic twists off tops on the bottles are being collected for a cause also. We thank you all for helping us out. Digital Camera:The Memorial Fund recently purchased a Canon 560 digital camera for use at church functions. The camera will be kept in the church office. If you would like to provide the flowers for a Sunday service, please sign up on the Flower Chart outside the church office or call the office during the week. There are lots of Sundays available.
